Privacy Policy

Effective June 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Scalar (the "Service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and a hashed password when you create an account or are invited to a workspace.
  • Content you provide. Workspaces, binders, cards, comments, attachments, and other content you and your collaborators create.
  • Usage and device data. Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and timestamps, used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
  • Cookies. A session cookie to keep you signed in. A theme preference is stored locally in your browser and is not sent to our servers.

2. How we use information

  • to provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • to authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  • to send transactional messages such as invitations and password resets;
  • to detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or technical issues;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content in your workspaces for advertising.

3. AI features

If you use AI-assisted features, relevant content from your workspace may be processed to generate a response. We use this only to provide the feature and do not use your content to train third-party foundation models without your consent.

4. Service providers

We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf to run the Service — for example, an email delivery provider used to send invitations and password-reset links. These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When content or an account is deleted, we remove it within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as security and backups.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and encrypting traffic in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage much of your information in the app, or contact us to make a request. Workspace administrators may also control content within their workspaces.

8. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as posting the updated policy with a new effective date.
